If anything on your bike is hot, you can damage it.

Water will wash out your chain wax. Hot brake discs love to warp when water hits them.

As for the vents, on a sportbike there will likely be one on the top of the tranny of the engine case; so to be safe dont go over your shifter for very long. You want to prevent water from entering the oil and creating strawberry milkshake.

Sure a jeep on 30 somethings will be fine. But for the average person in the average vehicle if you can't see the lines on the road "Dont Drown, Turn Around".

Did you not see how many cars were in the middle of streets after the water subsided last weekend? It's because people think they can make it through water and it is way deeper than they anticipated. It only takes 1 ft of water.
