Something Different.

Well folks my picky finally did it. I have been searching for something new for quite sometime now, since I paid off my ZX10 a while back. I've looked and sat on many bikes and even rode a few, but alas I feel in love with one bike. As of this afternoon I am a proud father to a Black 2009 Yamaha R1, thanks to the good folks over at Team Mancuso Powersports on 59 (Thanks Allen!!!). I have owned many bikes in my time; Honda, Ducati (still have it), and Kawasaki. I have never owned a Yamaha before, I rode the 2009 when it first came out and feel just head over heals with it. Not just because of the radical new crankshaft, but for what a benchmark Yamaha has set for the sportbike industry. Things are going to change my friends. This monster handles like no other and it suits my riding style too. I can't wait to take her out on the track, I wanna open her up and just see what she can really do. I took some pictures of the bike and will post them soon.

So on a side note do I need to change my SN?

And second what are everyone's predictions for the future? Do you think other . factories will follow Yamaha and start changing things? I can see Honda making a V4, we've all heard the rumors about that one. I'm curious to see what Kawasaki and Suzuki will pull out too. I think the horsepower race is over they all run about the same now, its going to boil down to rider control over all that power and just how "user friendly" it can be.

How does it compare to the ZX-10R for street riding? How is the acceleration?

It's alot smoother that's for sure, I haven't had a chance to open her up yet. I think the top end is a little better on the ZX10.

Good Choice! That R1 looks sweet, I saw it when I bought my bike(s) from Mancuso Powersports last week.

Horsepower is nothing unless you can control it.

Well in all honesty I was asking a question. I could care less either way. Congrats on your purchase.

he said the top end feels better on the zx-10.....read it again. lol

and too bad man, u should've waited for the 2010 zx-10r. rumors are it's going to have a REAL big bang motor. should be pretty wicked. hopefully it won't be as ugly as the 06-09 10's.

gg on the r1 though, if i was to buy a new sportbike today, it would be that one for sure.

I am curious to see what Kawasaki can do, I have always been a fan. I just wish they could win some races, I know they have the riders but geez come on. And I agree on the looks, although I thought the 06-07 weren't too bad, the current gen I'm not to fond of. Looks good in race trim though!
