Apparently the extra 2-3 inches helps cut down the lean angle by 9-15% which lets the rider "feel" the same smooth knee drag in the corners, at slower speeds and less lean angle.

I'd tried them on a mini in the rain, but its a bit annoying to get used to on a tard... probably just me though.
