looking for a trackbike!!

Angry I was having a pretty good day...and then I was stalked by a bicycle cop...

I got to school around noon today to work on projects and other assignments. I leave lab around 7:30pm and walk downstairs. As I'm walking out, a bicycle cop was trying to walk his bike inside the building. So being the nice person I am, I hold the door open for him to walk his bike inside. I then walk the couple hundred feet to my bike while continuing a convo with a friend about a bike for 15 min. I then put my gear on and start down the street. As I make a right out of the parking lot, there is a bicycle cop, the same one, standing on the side of the street and he motions me to pull over. As of now, I have no idea why im being pulled over since im doing about 5mph and he hasn't seen me but for a few seconds. I pull over and he positions his bicycle the same as a normal cop would while turning on his flashing lights. He goes through the typical, im such and such,,,,. He said, the reason I pulled you over is because your inspection sticker has been mounted incorrectly. He runs my lic, and insurance. its clear and then he issues me a warning.

Im not even mad about the warning. What I am mad about is the fact that he had to deliberately inspect every bike in the moto lot, which is in a BFE part of campus. He then had to wait for me to leave. I got to school at noon. A&M is plagued with burglary, robberies, theft, etc, but yet this bicycle po-po is doing like this.

I figured out the reason hi wrote me a warning. If it was a citation, I could have gone to the hearing and explained that it was like that when I bought it. Now, the next time he writes me a ticket, there's no way out of it.

I guess Ill be fabing up an ugly bracket to mount it at the "rear most" spot on my bike.

End Rant

No it's not. The law clearly states "near the license plate", so unless the license plate is mounted on the side, it's not legal.

And before I get a bunch of flack, mine are also mounted on the swingarm, but it ain't legal.

Correct. Mine are mounted on the chain guard. I had to go through 3 inspection stations, though, before I finally found one that had no problem with it. 2 of the ones who refused told me they were "specificly told (in class/when getting qualified), that they cannot place it anyplace else but right by the plates".

Yeah man! I feel you! I've had them twice, literally follow me to my normal parking spot, next to Zachry, and circle around me and the bike. Then when they realize I'm fully legal, he rides off and hides behind a bush and waits for the next motorcycle to roll up. Freaking bicycle cops around here are like vultures!

Thats what happened to me. I left the lot on the side of zachary and he was standing in front of zachary waiting for me . I wonder if I mount my license plate on my swingarm......It says that the sticker must be near the lic plate, but doesnt say where on the back the lic plate must be, nor what defines the rear.

My swing arm is at the rear and near the plate. I have had all of my stickers there for the past 10 years without any issues.

define "near" the plate....is it up to the officers discretion what can be considered near?
