i've been wondering about how to get into trial bikes (not the motorversion). I've never done BMX or anything like that but would find something like that great exercise and great for developing better balance.

the thing is no one really makes a stock trials bike thats reasonably affordable. best off modifying youre own. do you wanna ride 26" or 19"? this video is 26" or standard mountain bike size.

the most important thing is brakes! and secondly wheels/tires. then you have seat height and bar height and stem lenght/rise to worry about.

good disc brakes will work but for trials riding, rim breaks are really better. magura hydraulics being the best but they cost. high end vee brakes are youre best alternative.

good wheels are essential. im out of the loop because its been a long time since ive ridden trials or down hill. but sun rims or mavic rims are your best bet. something with low sidewalls to prevent pinch flats as you need to run low tire pressure for trials. tubeless is really best. but once again. that costs.
regaurdless what wheels you get, youre going to need a spoke wrench and know how to use it.

make sure if its a mountain bike you are using that it fits you. you need low standover height with your seat against your top tube. also get a stem with a lot of rise and decent rise bars. wider is better. platform pedals.
chain guide and ditch the front derailure.

all that and then just find a picnic table. one in the park on the grass is best because you are going to fall. pratice riding at the side hoping on front wheel onto the table back onto the bench. once you can hop into that position and hold balance then work on hoping with 90 degree rotation onto the table top. then ride off with out breaking your face on the ground.

if you really want to ride trials let me know. im not great but i can teach you a few things.

That's all well and good but fancy ridin' aint gettin' the chickens fed or sloppin' the hogs, might as well be learnin' the hula hoop for all the good it does.
Damned kids, these days. I'll swear, in a handbasket, that's where we're goin', in a handbasket.

Seriously that is amazing.

The flair off the tree! seriously?!

Then the 180 fakey nose manual UP the 8 stair gap

And those crazy drops! He is going to have some bad knee/ankles in a few years lol.

My favorite freestyle rider is Aaron Ross. And best of all he is a Texas rider! He's from Corpus but I believe he is in Austin mostly now. My friend gets to ride with him every once in a while! There is one video of him barspinning over a tennis court with no ramp. He can tailwhip from flat all day long too
Here's one vid of him, he doesn't mind having the mess ups on there haha
