Well I did it! It wasn't too difficult.

So after passing the MSF course a few weeks ago, I finally got to the DPS to take my written test. I read through the pamphlet last night and it isn't too hard to get 14 questions right.

I now officially have an "M" and a registered bike... now all that is left is the inspection.

My bike was finally lowered and I had the time to take it around the apartment complex a few times. The next trip is to some neighborhood side roads.

Pretty soon I'll be ready to ride with y'all!

Just west of the medical center. My bf is getting me to cross the street so I can ride in less traffic. Some nice quiet neighborhood roads.

Congratulations!
TIPS: 1) When practicing on your own not only practice the regular stuff, but emergency stuff too. The most common way people drop their bike is in a slow turn and have an immediate stop-they grab the brakes hard and over you go. 2) Also DO NOT put your feet down on street paint. Usually there is oil or moisture and you could slip. 3) Don't ride above your comfort level and even if you feel comfortable always be cautious; especially on Houston highways.

Congrats again.

We took a nice slow paced ride around the West U area and she is gaining confidence every day. Next Ill have to drag her out to some of the back roads and get her into the twisties. (as a slow comfortable pace while she develops her skills)

Well, yesterday we went out for a longer ride. It started out okay and my quick stopping and manuevering skills are being well used. Houston drivers are idiots!!! To ease me onto the highway, we got on Alt 90 and I was feeling pretty comfortable. Though I still don't like lane changes at faster speeds.

The wind was really bothering me. Of course it was my first ride at 60+. But feeling like you are being pushed into the next lane is not fun. Any recommendations on how to get over that feeling?

Everything was going fine until we got on 59. I was a little freaked out and the wind felt worse. But we made it safely home and I had a blast.

Can't wait to get on the bike again. If I got some overpants I could take it to work!

Adjust your lane position.

Ride more. Lots more. That "feeling" goes away as you get more comfortable on your bike.
