Question Help with Fiddy problem..

Alright so i've an '02 xr50 and i've just recently started having a really frustrating problem.. After i installed my rear handbrake kit about a week ago, my bike wouldn't start.. no joke.. i tried for about 2 hours to start the dam thing.. i checked all the vitals and basics and nothing seemed wrong with the bike at all..

After thinking about it for a while and after a few things thrown accross the garage in anger i checked the kill switch that i had to move over on the handlebars.. after i loosened it, my bike fired right back to life. .. WTF.. i tightened it back up and it had been working fine since then up until last night when i wanted to take my bike for a spin. Well it started doing the same thing and wouldn't start.. Surely it couldn't be that kill switch again but sure enough when i fiddled with it again my bike fired back up, BUT started shooting sparks out of the switch. No joke...

Well my solution is to buy a new kill switch and wiring for it.. I'm hoping that this is all it needs since i want to get out there this sunday. Have yall ever had any kind of problem like this??? Any suggestions??? I'm all ears

Screw the killswitch. Just bypass it. If you really want a killswitch they sell a cheap universal at Cycle Gear.

i might have to do that at least until i get a replacement.. I just didn't think that a kill switch could just out like that all of the sudden..

the only reason i have one is it came as part of the bbr kit. i never use it. it easier to just reach down and turn the key.

ya know i never even thought about that key.. out of sight, out of mind i guess..

as far as a bypass, that ought to be pretty easy. i'll be looking into that tonight. I mean that's really alittle un necessary to even have on those bikes with that key there

could i just completely take that switch off wires and all? or would i actually have to leave the wiring and just bypass that switch?

i don't remember exactly what the configuration is to bypass it but its done down at the connectors in the black rubber sleeve. A multi-meter and five minutes should get it taken care of though.

so it literally took a total of 45 seconds for me to undo 2 zip ties, unplud 2 wires and pull that switch off... my bike works perfect now and actually look alittle cleaner on the bars.. Truly a cheap and easy fix

i appreciate the help guys
