they will not title a bike/vehicle that has a lien on it...YOU would have to clear the lien before you could do that, ie lets say a repair shop has a lien on the title....before anyone BUYS anything they should become a member of www.publicdata.com and check out the history of the vehicles.

and oops it cost me $260 not $200. i had someone pm me a few days ago and i responded with this...
All a bonded title is, it's cause the title was lost from the title owner and was only being sold with a bill of sale or what not, you get it bonded to protect your and the state requires it. it's pretty much so the original title owner can't come back and try to take your bike. it cost me $260 with the bonding company and they had the paper work done in three business days. then i took the bonded paper work and the bill of sale to the dps and just title it, on the title it will say " BONDED TITLE " and thats it...if you ever sale it most people will freak out until you explain to them what a bonded title is..it's nothing more then just some insurance protecting you from the title owner..

i hope this helps and i think they should make this thread a STICKY or if asked i could do a write and they could sticky that..

Very informative post. Thanks for the explanations. Good tip on using publicdata.com

I have used them in the past with very good results.

The place you used did the appraisal for you? That is a deal. I had to get the appraisal done myself. This should be a sticky. I've seen it come up at least once a month.

the DMV did my appraisal. even got a little sticker saying how much they think the bike is worth and what the bonded amount has to be.

if i think about it later, ill call around and see about bond companies. ill post updates just in case this gets stickied.
