I wouldn't recommend a new 600/636 as your first real bike grab a 2000 CBRF4i or even an F3 it's already a big jump from your bike + you'll raise your skill level faster IMO as it won't be as scurry. After 1 or 2 years of that get a new bad 600/636 type of bike. I wish I had taken that course but then again my TT600 is a very user friendly bike that will keep up with the rest on the backroads when revved up + I can still walk after a 400 mile ride unlike most of my friend's. The bike doesn't matter as much as the rider on it

That's my .02 for the day now I will go back to myt cave.

^ there's not alot of diff. from an F4i to a 636, what 5hp maybe......a lil steeper geometry, maybe.........

as for the 250, upgrade the rider not the bike. do a trackday cost less then an exhaust. but will get you more gains. it's a learning tool.

your right 5 hp ot a big difference other than the new bikes weigh less and are much more efficient and faster than let's say a 2000 f4i or a carbed F3. IMO

eeww..........what 20-30lbs..........that aint jack.

efficient? how so?

faster...........lol. right.....don't believe the hype.....they're faster w/ top notch riders vs the avg. street rider it ain't alot faster.

since '85 when the first GSXR came out, the bikes have performance envelopes higher then the avg rider. now they are so far outta the league it's not even funny. people haven't evolved enough to keep pace w/ SS bikes.

puleez.......

I like my f3 1997 scratched up but running strong. Be careful I went from riding joe's old suzuki 500 to my f3 and the difference is unfathomable. yeah you like that....big words make me feel cooler :icon_bigg Track day for the f3 coming this summer hopefully.

Ok Mr. X let's see I was recommending that he not purchase a new bike after his starter bike b/c it would be to fast for him adn wouldn't be able to take advantage of it just like 95% of us. I think he should purchase for arguments sakes a 97 honda f3 ride it for a while(1-2yrs) then make a move to newer bike...Have I lost you yet...

Also just because the bike is capable of more doesn't mean that it will help the average riders onthe contrary it will slow them down. For myself I know I am faster on something like my TT600 or a cbr f3 than I am on a new 600RR....

Anybody can learn to ride on any kind of bike. I've seen people buy 929's and R1's as their first bikes and they did fine. I've seen people buy Ninja 250's and dump them multiple times. Riding is about confidence, learning as you go along, and as you learn never ride above your head. As far as upgrading your exhaust I think you get the picture, but in case you need one more opinion....don't spend the money on something you won't ever get back.

riding may be a bout confidence, but learning to ride isn't.....it's about learning to ride. ego aside. your much less apt to make mistakes on begineer bikes, these mistakes are much costlier on bigger bikes monetarily and usually on the body. sure people have started on "big bikes" and many more crash then succed.
