I did this a couple weeks ago on my BMW as I carried a friend's FN-FAL from South Houston to my house in League City; most of it was freeway trippin. No case, factory sling, full mag.

I received a couple honks and thumbs-up gestures, and no negative reactions that I could see.

That was me... cant see the pic SB put up.. had myne in a case, so i shouldn't have been a big deal...
