Repacking Cobra Slip-ons

Anyone have experience repacking pipes? My cobras have gotten loud and cobra recommended repacking them with fiberglass insulation. When I removed the tubes I noticed there was only a little packing at the back end. I was wondering if this is how it should be or did it just get pushed and packed to the rear? I wrapped the whole tube without little notice in quietness. Any suggestions?

I had a VTX 1300 with cobra slash cut pipes, it sounded ok, unfortunatly just by you adding more of the fiber glass to the baffle will not quiet it down.

Just repacked my Yoshi last week. Cost me:
$10 @ CG for fiberglass packing
$20 @ Lowe's for Rivet Gun and Rivets

Thanks guys. I only spent $4 for the packing and about 30 minutes of time. I didn't get a chance to ride it, just cranked it in the garage. And your right, it didn't sound any quieter.

Try this product http://www.axner.com/axner/equipment...ax-blanket.php
They use this stuff as industrial strength turbocharger blankets, and I've heard they work extremely well.

.... or any ceramic fiber insulation. If you only spent $4 total for the insulation, that may have alot to do with your results!

I've also heard good things about Two Brothers Racing Muffler Repack Kit, http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/...t--632451.html
