Talking Question About Titles On Bikes

Hey What's up everybody,

Yeah it's me Big C... Some of you all may remember me from a few years back when I had my accident... I am fully recovered now / make a long story short I have ambitions of buying this motorcycle only thing is that the seller has informed me that he never had the title to the bike...

The reason why the seller is selling the bike really cheap is because he doesn't have the title to the bike... The seller has previously bought tags every month for the bike... (I think I may smell a dead cat on the line)

Can anyone render me some advise of whether or not this would be a wise purchase and if so, how do I obtain a title for the bike?

Thanks you all,

Big C

First thing I would do (assuming it is here in Texas) is get a DMV search and see what the current status on the title is.

Second go to carfax and get a free report

You need the VIN to do either one.

If the seller has been getting tags see who it is registered to...

Not fun either way

texlurch has some good ideas.
Clear title is the ONLY way. Otherwise how can you prove, if you ever have to, that it belongs to you and nobody else?
If you can't get a the title issues straight, you should walk away, don't be tempted by the low price. The money you save, is not as much as a lawyer costs.

You could alway's do a mechanics lien .. it will take roughly 60 days to get the title..
done it before, but def have the VIN run prior to purchase and get the motor id aswell

Run the VIN, if it comes clean, that's the first step, second, you can either do a bonded title, or like he said before, have someone do a mechanics lien.

I second that. If the seller stonewalls you from seeing the VIN in-person then that is a good sign to just walk away from the deal. Any seller that is on the up and up should have no problem with that.
