it's more than a tach problem...it was misleading. false advertising i imagine it would fall under, as they were claiming something not true as a major selling point/promotion.

exactly, but for them to stand behind it and offer a full refund if you think it mis-led you. thats just awesome in my book. I dunno if they are doing it because a court mandated thing or are they doing it for good customer repoir'?

whats to stop you from taking it back, and getting a fresh / zero miles bike, either another r6 or maybe another brand this time, aren't they coming out with the r12 or something like that? give em their false advertising bike back and buy a fresh one.

in fact, I am the type of guy to give their bike back just to teach them that they did act unfair and the difference between honesty and BS means something to me. (I'll bet you wish you didnt write void all over it now 'eh?)

It's definitely NOT out of customer service. A few years back the '02 R1 s were eating their rod bearings and everyone had to fight like for it to be warrantied. I'm aware of several other issues that Yamaha has not been "service oriented" about.
IMO, this is probably to stop a potential lawsuit for false advertising. They stepped on their with golf spikes and they know it.

I would let them do a buy back...and then turn around and buy the bike back as a used bike. That should be good for about at least $2k

the dealer will turn around and resale it pretty high still, so doesnt matter to them.

also isnt the 17.5k only available if you buy the upgraded software/parts thats like another $1k through yamaha?

I would most assuredly return the bike if I had one.

Been a big issue on the r6messagenet forums too... So far its about a 50/50 split as far as customer happiness with the 06 model..
They changed alot on this model and its just too new for my tastes. Dual Fuel injection..electronic throttle (no more cable) I will wait til the bugs are worked out if they ever are.. I do hear its an incredible Track bike though... Stock slipper clutch

Mazda did the same sort of "recall/buyback" on the RX-8. They advertized way more hp than the little rotary was making......
