Would you ride an electric moto?

http://hellforleathermagazine.com/20...supermoto.html

With 62.5lb/ft of torque and 31bhp, the 2009 Zero S electric supermoto can reach a top speed of 60mph, while its 4kWh battery gives it a range of 60 miles and a recharge time of less than 4 hours.

funny you should bring that up. there was a thread posted a while back linking to an article saying that there was concern about electric vehicles being too quiet for blind pedestrians. so maybe the cards in the spokes wont be such a bad idea.

it is. I saw it in a sport riding magazine recently for $3500 or somewhere in the range. There is a sport bike that will go 150mph with 150 miles range. They haven't produce this bike yet due to the weight issues. It is currently at 600-700 pounds, they are targeting this bike to be 300-400 pds. for production models.

the electric bikes are starting to look better and better. hellforleather and the kneeslider are posting more and more about electric bikes. the zero dirtbike was a pretty big deal and then the tech went into streetbikes.
a couple of years from now it will be really interesting to see what this will be like. im sure we will have about as many electric bikers on here as we do 250 riders that started in the gas price hike

Maybe they will ban the dirt bikes with motor since they cause emission and it's only recreational vehicles.

Bike(s):
Kawasaki EX250 (dead due to mechanical failure)
Kawasaki EX500 (on loan from a friend)
Pending, bikeless once the 500 gone :-(
Want Husky 510SMR or KTM 690 SMC to continue the hooligan activity

i would defintely buy one for commuting IF:
$5k-$6k max price
150 ish mile range at least
reasonable recharge time, ie 1-3 hours max
speed 100-120mph capable.

Riding the beltway I like the extra power to get up and go fast if I want.... so if its max speed is 75 I wouldn't feel comfortable with that... more like a scooter :-)

but if the requirements below were met, heck yeah I 'd be interested.
