LOL...only for those who like it!! Nothing like riding a 10-speed bicycle on an ice rink!

The danger (crash) factor increases greatly...whether your fault or not.

I personally don't like it...but have & will race in it again.

My first rain race was a WERA National in Indianapolis (my first National) in 1996. My numbers may be rusty, but I think 47 riders signed up for that race, 36 took the warm-up lap (10 crashed during warm-up lap-I counted down bikes), 26 took the green flag, 16 finished...I ended up 13th.

Besides...if I don't race in the rain, I can't make fun of the NAPCAR/NASCRAP sissies.

Survival is THE main word that comes to mind. Be careful and be SMOOTH!

See you out there.

I don't like the rain, but I have always done very well in it. Rider ability and skill play a big part in being able to be fast (relative) and in control in the rain.

There are those that like to ride/ race in the rain but are still slow as molasses; sure they finish the race, but the ones that are faster make them look silly.

I'm not the fastest guy in the rain either, but I know what my bike does with rains and how much I can push before it gets bad.

My favorite races have been in the rain where I am dicing with another racer testing the limits of traction in braking and corner speed just to get that position on them. That's good racing there

Yeah...I hear ya Tom.

My first time EVER on true 'rains' was just this past Eagles Canyon. BIG DIFFERENCE!! I started the race and suprised myself with 7th overall by the time my stint was over.

Everything else was on DOTs and it wasn't so pleasant.

I think rain is much less of an equalizer in club racing because of the wide mix of rider skill level and machine capability. At the national or world level it equals things out a bit more. When Gobert won a few years ago in WSBK on the under-powered, under-funded Bimota in the rain, that was a classic example of things getting evened up by the rain. What you need when it rains: a little less power, a softer set-up, more throttle hand restraint, some extra luck, and a decent pair of 'nads.
