Anytime I ride 3090 I get an erie feeling, that's why I am always hanging at the back on that road. It just rubs me the wrong way anytime I go on it, so instead of going all out I choose to ride it at a calm peaceful pace. I suppose it has to do with my mental state before even getting on that road. I just can't seem to block out all that has happened on that specific road, nor what my experience was the last time I rode on it.

It didn't always used to be like that, I used to enjoy 3090 a lot. But for some reason I just can't enjoy it anymore whenever I am on it. Another option would be to cut out the south portion and just take the north portion of 3090. At least that segment isn't as bad as the lower segment. But I think for future rides I might just elect to take FM-244, at least then I'll get my burger first.

PS. Accident statistics are no doubt higher on 3090 than most other roads. 3090 has been on my 'MSF crash chain' for quite a while, it's one less factor I have to worry about when I am out having a good time.

Between Yankees and the Hop in Coldspring.. I would probably choose the Hop if nothing more for the malt and service.

And for BBQ the Waller County Line Shell at 362/290 hands down.

I DARE you to finish a baked potato there!

Another good burger is at Orsaks.

The important thing to remember is that you're the one controlling the bike. The bike's not going to ignore your commands and do what it wants- it's ALL you.

I have no issues with 3090... it is just a road. I am so distraught that some of the best men I have known have given their lives just to ride it. But they did so knowing the dangers and accepting them. I cannot tell you the tears I have shed today for Coach but he passed doing what he loved and I can accept that even though it tears my heart to shreds.

Statistics? I also choose not to ride in Houston traffic either, but we aren't discussing Houston traffic.

Riding is a hobby for me as it is for most, I choose when/where/how I want to ride. I guess you can read my previous post about why I dislike 3090 more than other roads.

Edit: For the record, I've personally never had any close calls on 3090. I just dislike certain areas of the road and anytime I am on it I tend to get raddled.

Hahahaha... 2 weekends ago, I went riding with 2 of my friends who ride cruisers (1 Night Train, and the other a V-Star). We joined them along with their cruiser buddies on Hogs. Myself, Dr. Pimpride, and Houtex were the only ones on "sportbikes".

So just as we get to Chappel Hill to ride towards the Forest, I'm like "Finally done with slabbin, and onto the twisties!"

We go through Chappel Hill, towards Washington on the Brazos, and just as we start to get warmed up, we pull off into some bar called the Chappel Chill, and hang out for a while. Mind you, we had already stopped by Waller County Line BBQ on 290 to "rest" and eat, so I had no thoughts whatsoever that we were gonna do another stop not even 1/2hr later.

So we sit down at Chappel Chill for a few drinks (at least they were sodas), and I had to ask "WTF?"

That's when they explained to me that what they do (most cruisers) is destination riding... going from one bar (destination) to another bar. So not only was the riding slow, but it was excruciatingly frustrating. We chose not to continue with them to the next "destination".

Good peeps, though. Just not what I think of when I wanna go riding.
