I am in shock! i dont even know what to say except prayers are sent to his family. when i wrecked on 3090 back in feb coach dave was there. this was the first time we really met. when i realized my arm was broke, i picked up a table leg from the side of the road and didnt have anyting to keep it in place, so coah dave took off his belt and wrapped my arm and the table leg so it would stay in place. he was all around a great guy and will truly be missed, i cant believe i wont have the plessure of ridding with him now it will only be in spirit. if anyone needs anything i will do my best to help, and i think a memorial ride, and the cross is a great thing! def keep everyone posted on that!

I met the man once and he was really friendly sat and talked with me and kept ribbing me about not being on my own bike and having a loaner, and said I had better get out to another ride so he could see the bike I swooned over.

Passenger pegs down for coach, you always got a place to ride man.

I really wish I would have spent more time with everyone over the past few months...Hearing about this sad loss this morning really made me think about everyone; and how many riders I see everyday going home from work.

RIP Coach Dave you will be dearly missed

Nothing I can say that hasn't been said already - but I'll say it anyway. HAK won't be the same. The forest won't be the same. The world has lost one of the good guys. I'll miss his laugh across the lot at Starbucks. I remember being on his wheel on my first forest ride - right now I feel like I never want to ride the forest again. But I know that's the last thing he would want.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing his family, but if they need anything, someone please post it up. My prayers are with them.

Rest easy brother. Rest in peace.

-Matt

I just realized that Coach has only been part of MH for about five months. It's amazing to see how many lives he was able to impact in such a short time. Imagine how we feel right now- then try to imagine how the people who knew and loved him are feeling? We saw him weekly- they saw him daily. There are lives that will never be the same after losing him.

This is a tragic loss, Tim and I just met his beautiful wife last weekend while Dave was out riding. The only comfort I can find in this news is that he went doing what he loved. My prayers are for his family and friends. His journey has just began.

He started off as the quiet lurker in the corner.. can you imagine? As he put it "I finally got up the nerve to come out on a group ride, don't run off and lose me"... I feel honored to have been one of the first around here to ride with him, and glad we didn't scare him off the first time out.

He really loosened up with the HAK and SBM guys and turned into a bonafide Forest Gnome, and showed just what kind of guy he really was. One in a Million surely fits him.

We lost an awesome friend and fellow rider; they lost a father, husband, brother and son. Keep his family in your hearts and prayers, I know from experience how hard the next few days are going to be.

He never saw a track though. We were going to go soon to Parade Laps.
