when you're doing trackdays, is it really necessary to change it every 1-2 trackdays?

or are you just being cautious.

i've done 2 TD's on my oil and there's only about 500 miles on it total since i changed it.

I don't change oil EVERY track day. But every few track days. Regardless of the number of miles, you are putting much more wear on your bike then it is likely to see on the street.

If you seriously plan on doing it that often. Get a Scott's. It will have paid for itself in less than 10 oil changes, not to mention you get better filtration and better flow. You can order them online for @ 160. I got mine through CG for $120 somehow. Would have ordered it at Motorcycles Unlimited but the guy at the counter insisted to argue with the wife that no such thing existed.

I change my oil every 2-3 trackdays. I change the filter every other oil change. You should see the guys @ O'Reillys when I recycle my oil, there like, ", how often you change your oil? that sh*t looked new!"

aka preventive maintenance...small price to pay vs. a new motor.

Clean them, dry them, re-install. Much tighter filtration than a paper filter with a better flow rate.

Don't mean to bust your bubble Ryan, but Scotts oil filters allow too much dirt to pass through.

35 microns, which is what the Scotts is rated for, is flipping HIGH.

FWIW, the human eye can see down to 42.

Hi Flow, WIX and Amsoil EA filters are rated at 15 Microns.

K&N is rated at 17.

, even FRAM is rated at 20!

But hey, don't mind me, I only see a couple of hundred engines torn down a year.

Greg,
Give me a shout and I'll put something together for you.
