LTZ-400?

I've been looking at some atv's recently and I'm going to check out an '03 ltz400 today. Just wanted to know if anyone had one and if there are any specific things I should look out for on that bike. Also, how did you like yours compared to other four wheelers? I've had a Raptor but I'm interested in picking up something I can track at 3 palms

I think it shares the same power plant as the DRZ. If so, the only big thing I've heard is doing the loctite fixes as soon as practical

Keith. . .if you're looking for a reliable all around sport quad the LTZ400 is a decent choice(Kawasaki and Arctic Cat sold the same exact quad w/ the only differences being the plastics/graphics). If you're looking for a dedicated MX quad I would look for a newer 450, or an older 400 that someone has prepped for the MX track with suspension upgrades. The stock suspension, a-arms, and axle width on the LTZ400 aren't low/wide enough for serious MX action. What is your budget? You might want to keep an eye out at 3 palms/craigslist for a used racequad. When i decided to quit racing ATV MX and CC I sold my Predator for $3750. That included $1500 worth of motor work, $2500 worth of suspension upgrades, ramp, full set of gear, and more spare tires than you could ever want. I believe the current race organization in your area is the Gulf Coast Quad Racers Association. Might want to google that and see if they still have a message board up, good deals can be found there. Also, look up the number to RAGE ATV in Splendora and ask for Dee. . .He might be turning wrenches on the pro circuit these days but(when he's in town) he usually has good deals around that shop and he's full of knowledge. If you get a quad and want some help getting it track worthy give me a shout and I'll be glad to point you in the right direction. Last, once you get comfortable on your quad, call Highlands MX and ask if they are still running quad practice at their track. . .That track has really good flow and some fun jumps. Nothing like a 85+ foot triple to get the adrenaline flowing!!!
