should have been a one and a half hour project

Good Job, though. Did you change the map?

update if you r1 owners need a how to on this I have a great write up. doesn't require a custom map but if you have a power commander why not. I took mine out for along ride today finally. and ill tell you the bike at 7000 rpms really comes on and there is a little more rumble from the stacks overall great little mod can't wait to take it to the dyno ill post results.

Nice mod for the R1s, that will help out weak midrange they have. Not bad for $170.....I doubt you gain any peak HP but I could definetly see 3-5 in the midrange, thats where you need it anyway.

Another cheap mod you could do is drop a tooth on the front sprocket.....$20 and it makes it feel like you gained 10hp in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. keep in mind your speedo will read WAY fast though.

yeah I have a 520 coversion with a down one in the front. I took the bike out to fayetteville with the guys and the bike ran great especially in the mid range and roll on out of the corners.

When you say "custom map", are you talking about the maps you download from the dynojet website?

A real custom map, tuned on the dyno to your specific bike, will make a HUGE difference on the 7K dip. Andy at MetricMotorcycles was able to eliminate mine all together. No popping on decel, very linear power. Worth every penny IMO.
