the stacks are easy install takes only about 20 minutes... but these smog block off plates are a big pain in the a$$... I started on it tonight and can see the smog plates now all I have to do is remove them tomorrow some time its just hard to get an allen wrench in there..

It is easy to get to the smog block off plates if you loosen the upper radiator bolt on the rider's left hand side and the lower radiator bolt between the headers. This drops the radiator (slide it to the rider's right side and it will fall off the supporting peg). Now you can use an allen (socket type, 5mm I believe) on your ratchet and get to the plates easy.

You still have to remove the airbox so that you can pull the ASI system... and don't forget to plug the bottom of the air box. There will be a hole where you removed the hose.

The small triangular plate beneath the airbox is easily cracked, so remove it with caution. It is easiest to remove it from underneath after dropping the radiator. Don't forget to pull the throttle cable support out of it, first. Just push up on the plate and it will pop into the delta box.

While you are there, you should change your plugs. Will take less than 5 minutes extra since you are so close. Stock size is NGK CR9EK. A standard 5/8" spark plug socket will fit them. They are only like $4 each at autozone. Make sure you put the coils back on FIRMLY and in the correct place.

Good luck!

Since the weather has been up and down its a cool mod if you had some time to kill in the garage other than that its a pain but feels good in the end. The stacks are well worth it in the midrange if anybody has riden and R1 and know the low spot around 7-8000 rpms. Over all Im satisfied and think it was a cool little 2 day project

Pro Racer Mode.
Its just a stupid joke on the R1 forums. I figured the stupidity of that was everywhere.

Ever figure out what code 11 means???
Sounds like you got some midrange. Good job, for me, I try to keep this bike in its seet spot at the track, 10k and above. Since my sprockets are stock I have more room to accel in the gears.
I'm curious to see how she does on the dyno, please post up the results. Do you have a full system exhaust? I've heard on the other forum that you should get the block off plates if you have a full system. I could be totally off, its easy to get mixed up with some information you get on there.
