For your type of riding that is overkill. I suggest you learn to ride your bike better before upgrading to a better touring tire. The OEM replacement that came on your model will do its purpose just fine. Having the latest and greatest isnt always best.

lol

Forgot to say.....

I suggest you spend the money on learning to ride better vs tires you wont fully appreciate or get full use out of. Look into the MSF for starters.

hehe Sry Ed I just couldnt resist.... :P

got about 7k on the rear of the VFR, first time for the SV, had bt-010 got about 4 trackdays and 5-6000mi, but "just" had a lil cord showing. squared off to much for me.

the road didn't square of as badly as the 010, since 95% of my riding is commuting (even on the SV) i got what i hope was the most realistic tire, and i hope to get 2-3 trackdays in this yr.

The M1's are good tires, and they are reasonbly priced, typically $20.00 to $40.00 less per tire than the Powers. The Powers are a better tire then the M1, on about the same level of performance as the current brop of SS tires: BT014, M3, and Qualifiers. It all depends on how you ride and what your skill level is.
In all honesty for most people the M1 is more than a sufficient tire, a couple of years back I turned some sub 2:00 times @ TWS (Texas World Speedway) and some sub 1:30's at MSR Cresson during a track day on them with no problems.

I have personally seen guys running 1:54 - 1:55 at TWS (Texas World Speedway) on fresh M1's about two years ago. They are still a great tire for agressive street riding.

I agree, the m1's are a very good tire for semi-agressive to agressive street riding and also a very good trackday tire. I have run Pirelli Diablo Corsa's on all my bikes. Patrick at M/U got me hooked on them when they came out, and I love them. I have been hearing a lot about the pilot powers. Anyone have any comments on how the two compare.

I guess i'm the only one who doesn't like M1.

I have a pair front and back.

I've gone through two sets.

did not like them, they are good, just wouldn't go with them again.

What kind of riding do you mainly do? When you say they are worn out, I am guessing you mean the center of the tire. If that's the case you should probably go with more of a street/touring tire. Also, when you say you've gone through two sets-how many miles are you getting out of them. I would say that approx. 3K miles is average for that tire(rear). You should also be going through 2,possibly 3 rear tires for every front tire. But all this depends on your style of riding(wheelies, stunts, stoppies, twisties, etc). Also, are you letting your tires warm up before trying to accelerate hard and spinning the rear tire. What tires are you thinking about buying?
