Whats the deal with Spring / Surburban North Houston and Stolen Bikes?

Seems like 9 out of 10 stolen bike threads, the victim is in Spring/1960/Woodlands area. WTF is going on up there?

I dunno man. If you look at most of the stolen bike threads, they are Spring. Just seems concentrated in that area.

Well apparently there is a theft ring operating in the NW area. I'd keep your $hit locked up tight until they bust the ring up or they move on to another area. These thefts are probably not random, but part of a organized effort.

Look at the 'cheaper' housing developements that have popped up, all the stealerships that moved 'north' into these areas etc.

The school where I went to High School, is now predominately populated by 'minorities'.

I think a lot of it is just complacency. People move up here and just assume that because they are in the woods that they are removed from the urban elements that are associated with crime. In the urban area all the good stuff is locked up tight but up here many people do stupid stuff like leaving their cars unlocked at night. Many people up here have lived for 20-30 years with zero crime that it doesn't occur to them that it happens.

I agree. It all seems pretty methodical. I doubt these are "random" thefts by different peeps.

Correct, I've heard from friends about potential groups being watched by the popo's etc...

In my mind's eye I cant even fathom taking something from someone else so I always give people the benefit of the doubt... But its hard to be in their vicinity when I am and not say anything. If I find out for sure, its on...

That's all Im willing to say for now.

I hear you. I keep mine in the garage and my Doberman now sleeps out there at night. If something happens, I will hear it and I'm sure my pup will do everything he can to protect his home.
