Red Light Camera Ticket

My wife was in corpus and a got a ticket from a red light camera. She stated that she didn't have time to stop that it changed from yellow to red insanely fast.

Anything I can do about this $75 that I don't really have in extra "ticket" savings to dispute this without affecting her driver's license, warrant for non paid ticket, extra fines, etc? This is actually her only ticket in years and years as we both have clean driving records.

Tips since it wasn't an officer issued ticket, required period to be paid?

Well man you can set up a "hearing" and try to contest it. if you do not pay the fine the only thing they can do is give you a late fee of $25 that and you cant get the car register tell you pay it.

just another way for them to give it to you

good luck

they cant prove it was you who was driving the car, hence nothing on your record. However, they can prevent you from registering your car. so while some might not give a , they can effectively force you to pay by barring registration.

basically they dont give a who was driving the car, just pay the 75 and deal w/ it. getting pulled over by a cop will cost u 200 and points on your driving record.

I bet we'll see some case law on this one soon. especially for extenuating (sp?) circumstances.. I know the bastards have sent tickets to police cars going through the lights, kinda ballsy if you ask me.

Still say tell em to get F^&*ed. hopefully the program will fall through.

Did they somehow forget about innocent until PROVEN GUILTY?

i'd suggest going down there and timing the light sequence and length/age.
Then try to fight/prove the yellow light is not long enough to give sufficient warning/time for the posted speed.

Actually a cop from that department signs the ticket before its issued. A contract company based in Airizona does all of the leg work, the information is forwarded to the corresponding police department, and a police officer issues the citation. You can't fight it, and besides, one ticket will not effect your driving record/insurance.

so is it or isn't it a violation on the driving record (@needySV, indicated its a violation which is NOT what everyone else says)

from what i've read, a camera ticket is not a moving violation. you can choose to not pay, but then you can't register your car, and they go after your credit........your choice..........pay or not.

LOL....unless you want to drive to corpus and fight this....which will probably get reset who knows how many times....I would just pay it online with your CC. in the end, its gonna be the cheapest and convenient way.....Or pay it when its time to register your car....

I received one in the mail when we were not in possession of the vehicle... a shop was.

We never were able to contact anyone about it so I had to pay.
