hi motohouston.
iam new here this is my first post.iam in need of a mechanical horse.i sure do like the susuki 400drz-sm.tried withdrawing from 401k to buy a bike but i was told i have to have a eviction notice first in order to withdraw on hardship.i decided to not go that route and continued paying bills.
any legal ideas on how to make money without borrowing?

Welcome to MH.

I assume that you are employed. Working extra hours, finding a higher paying job, or an additional job would be a great start in earining those extra dollars.

I know in the aftermath of Katrina and Rita there was a one time exemption to allow withdrawels without a hardship 10% penalty. In addition, the income taxes could be paid in three yearly installments. Further, if you paid back the 401k or rolled it over into another IRA you could restate your prior three year's of taxes to exclude the income from the distribution.

I did this for the max, $100,000, from my ExxonMobil IRA. I used the funds as an interest free loan for 3 years, and later returned the money to an IRA. This was cool because you can return it to any qualified IRA, not ExxonMobil's crappy 401k managed limited option IRA. And I get get taxes back on $100k of income I claimed in 2006-2009.

Just look to see if anything similar was offered for those affected by IKE. I know for a fact the RMD (Required Minimum Distributions) on IRAs were suspended for IKE folks, not sure about the hardship.

Look into it. If it doesn't work out, and you have equity in your home, let me know. My family owns a mortgage and title company, I moonlight there as a broker, and with low rates these days most folks could buy a new liter bike with their equity and still lower their monthly home payments.

Good luck!!!

Welcome to MH.

Man dont withdraw the money. Take a loan out and pay yourself back. You can make the loan for 2, 3, 4, 5 years. Make the term long and have it payroll deducted. If your dedicated make extra payment and pay it off early. Now you have paid yourself back with interest. Just a thought
