Red face PAY THE LAWYER

Just a tip about traffic tickets

If anyone should happen to get a ticket. be smart and get a lawyer. It should be about $250 for the lawyer plus Court cost which can be between $75-$180. Depends on violation it can be more if its a really bad one.

You pay the lawyer $250 and he will 10 times out of 10 reschedule the court date about 2 to 3 times. Then he will transfer the case to a different court. you don't have to pay the court cost until the lawer settles the case which will be in about 2 or 3 months, which gives you time to save up.

50% he can get it dismissed, If not he will get it down to a lesser voilation. Point is he will keep it off your record. Insurance prices for you will remain low.

On the other hand if you are speeding less than 25 MPH or it was a simple traffic violation like
1. Improper lane change.(falling to signal when changing lanes.)
2. Ran stop light or sign
3. Inspection sticker

You have 2 choices to save your record if you don't use a lawer.

1. Defensive driving which is a one day class. usually on a Sat or Sun

2. Deferred adjudication. Which is something like putting you on probation for about 5 months. The deal is, as long as you behave and don't get another ticket during those 5 months the case gets dismissed and all you have to pay is court cost. no more than 180. ( not exactly sure but I know its not that high). But if you screw up and get a ticket again you will be royaly screwed. Oh and you have to ask the judge for Deferred adjudication when they ask how do you plead.

Only ask for deffered adjudication as a last resort. I would not recommend it. Its to much to risk. Also you are still allowed to drive during the probation.

This has been my experience. In the past. Hope this helps someone.

The lawyer that is actually a couple of streets away from the court house. And for $250 they work miracles.

david sprecher is widely regarded as the best traffic lawyer in harris county and he only charges 150. worth every penny for the really bad ones though. i'll generally ask for deferred on my own though, i don't need to pay someone else 150 to do it for me.

Your wrong also he only charges 100 per ticket. Maybe I got a discout for turning in several tickets and the girl behind the desk was flirting, but he charges 100 per ticket for reg class c license and 200 per ticket if you have a cdl.

Defensive driving can also be done online. It's 6 hours in front of your computer.

It's not the same. The lawyers, DA, and cops all know each others. The lawyers even buy lunches for the DA and the cops. It's the racket but you have to 'pay to play'. My cases got dismissed a lot when using a lawyer. I was in an accident on 610 and 59. Hit two cars in front of me, got a ticket from bellaire cop for 'failure to maintain control'. My insurance co paid the claims for the other cars but the lawyer got my tix dismissed after resetting the case couple of time. Well worth the $ IMHO.

I'm in the middle of this right now with Sprecher. I have to pay $200 though. Half up front, half after everything is settled.

got a whole bunch of tickets about 2 months ago from a Harris county officer, one of which was for 100 in a 60. Got all dismissed (didn't have ins. card, inspection, license adress change) except the speeding which I got deffered for. No lawyer required. Still, court costs will add up to about 200$, but I just wasn't sure a lawyer would be able to do anything to help such a high speeding ticket.

Actually I like it better. It's only 90 days, not 5 months, and you have to be CONVICTED of a traffic violation. Which means you can stack adjudication on top of adjudication until you're clean. My buddy had 3 going at the same time I believe. I'd rather do that than waste my time in traffic school. Also, you can just delay the trial one time and chances are that'll take care of the time anyway.

The important thing to remember when dealing with the courts - and I speak from experience as I've had many run ins traffic wise - is that unless someone gets hurt, they really don't care about you or what happened. They just want your money, plain and simple.

Never plead guilty!!! Always work something out.

How about taking the MSF course, getting your license, and try to get it dismissed?
