PC III Help

I installed a PCIII in my Zx-14 this weekend. I was short on time so only rode locally at low speed < 55.

Today I jump on the bike and head to work about 25 miles into it the trip I start to see a sputter at 3500rpm's.

This afternoon on the way home the sputter is pretty extreme and I can see signifigant low end power loss.

Bike mods:

Full Muzzy system
Secondary Butterflies removed

I have the map installed for these exact modifications provided by Dynojet, however I have seen some other maps for the same mods that look quite different. So different that where my map shows leaning out the fuel the other maps show adding.

Trying to judge if it could be a PCIII issue or something else.

Hmmm I have the same mods and my pcIII never gave me any problems. I bet u plugged it in the wrong connector. There are 2 connectors that fit the pcIII plug. Recheck to make sure it's on the right one

I'm kind of a read the instructions carefully before you start and am pretty sure that it's plugged into the right place.

Yea I had Motorcycles Unlimited load a map on mine a while back and they thought I had hooked it up to the wrong connector. I didnt even know it could plug into another one but according to them it can be done but it wasnt the case on mine. I think thier usb cable was jacked.
DId you try adjusting the TPS sensor?
Does it idle ok?
At what RPM does it start to sputter?

It's starts to sputter around 3500K.

The ground wire crossed my mind but I haven't had a chance to get the plastic off and give it a look.

For some reason I'm hung up on this map. I've just seen too many that look completely opposite of mine with the same mods.

Where did you get the map from.....try using the one from the PCIII....Even though I have a full muzzy i am using the map for the full two bros, flies out, aftermarket airfilter and it seems to run good...

I am using the map from PCIII. Just something doesn't look right.

With the full system and flies out you would expect to add fuel on the low end to handle the extra air flow yet the PCIII provided map is leaning the bike out in the area where you would expect to add fuel.

Plus I have a few other maps from other sources that look totally different and these maps are proven.

I haven't had a chance to install one of the other maps to see if it is in fact something not PC related. Just wanted to throw it against the wall and see if anyone around here had some ideas.

Quick update.

This was a PCIII issue.

Brand new out of the box, no good.

Got to the point my bike wouldn't start at all.

New one in route.

I hate to resurrect an old thread but I wanted to bounce this off people again.

Latest and greatest. New PCIII. Installed by yours truly with the same default map.

My riding has been few and far between because I've been busy but a few hundred miles have been put on the new PCIII.

Jump to today.

Heading down 45 doing about 80 when the bike stalls. GEt to the side of the road wait a minutes and get it restarted. One my way home it stalls 5 more times.

Get it in the garage pull the PCIII off and it runs like a champ around the house. I'm actually scared to take it out on the road to really test it out.

PCIII WTF?

I could really care less about squeezing the few HP's out of the motor. All I really cae about is fixing the low end lean condition because the flies are out.

Anyone with ideas?

This also has been expressed to Dynojet. Awaiting their response.

Have you checked all plugs to make sure they are mating good. Loose plug and engine vibration could make things pretty interesting.

Both PCIII came from motorcycle superstore. They replaced the first one with no problem.

So, you never had it tuned on a dyno by a reputable shop?

My bet is that it's not the PCIII.

So what did they say was wrong with your first PCIII?

I have had problems with PCIIIusbs also. I am on my 3rd one on my busa, it seems to be working fine for now. The first two that failed gave different symptoms...both were replaced under warranty...

I also have a PCIIIusb on my 1000 and it has been fine, been on there almost 2 yrs.

I do suggest getting your bike mapped, those maps on DJs website NEVER work right....

Never could get the bike to really run long enough to get the tune done.

It's the PCIII because I zeroed the map and the bike does the same thing.

With the PCIII removed it runs like a champ.

I've checked for an cut wires or anything else that could cause a short and can't find anything.

I'm trying to get Dynojet to let me send it directly to them so they can find out whats wrong.
