Wow, that was tough. Prayers to your wife and you. Hope for the best. You did something and that was better than doing nothing. So nothing wrong there.
Back in Germany when I got my licenses (car & bike) it was mandatory to take a first aid course. And the one thing they preached was exactly that: doing nothing is not an option.

Should be mandatory here too.

So in theory I learned it but when it comes down to it, it's a whole different story. You did the right thing. Hope your wife gets well soon.

There is not an icon with a chin on the counter in shock, but that is what I look like right now. It's one thing to react heroicly to save someone you don't know but to not know how to save someone you love. I'm so sorry.

Tyler is far, but not Pluto. Tell us what you need.

Very well said.

mammoth, my best wishes to you and your wife. Sounds like you did everything you could have.
Where can one learn how to render first-aid to a fallen rider? I have been wanting to learn for a while now, just haven't done it for some reason.

Update:
She is breathing on her own now & starting to stabilize, so hopefully the worst is behind us.
Turns out the guy had insurance.......state minnimum 25k. That might cover the ambulance ride and a day of icu if I'm lucky....

Thanks again for all the thoughts & prayers.....

You never know how much it means until you're in this situation.

thread is very sobering...

Glad to hear your wife is doing better now and i will keep you and her in my prayers!

Just like others said, if you need anything let us know. Maybe set up some kind of fundraiser or car wash to raise money for time in the hospital? if the insurance doesnt cover it

I think a fallen riders fund would be a big plus, escpecially in a case like this one!
My prayers are with you and your wife!
I'm in Katy and currently un-employed, so hI have time let me know if you need anything!

OMG. Our prayers are with your wife.
Don't torture yourself over your decisions at the time of the accident, yo did nothing wrong, and you can't change the past.
