One of the shelves in the garage is dedicated to helmets/gloves only. There's 5 helmets there, all of which are stored in their dust-bags after each use. Never had a problem with bugs or anything else. It's a good place to keep them because they are easily in reach and quick to grab on the way out of the garage.

I keep my helmet and gloves in the garage - jacket and knee pads in the house. Has to do the order I get dressed. Also even for very short runs I have helmet and gloves so they are right next to the bike.

Does anyone actually know how the humidity affects a helmet?

I store mine in a closet in the house mostly so I don't get any unwanted critters in there.

All my gear usually stays in the garage. Every once in a while I'll bring it inside. . . usually if I'm not gonna ride for a while.

As far as the helmet thing, every 5 years.

On a shelf in my closet. Because it's less likely to get bugs in it!

if i won't be riding for a while, it stays in the top of my living room closet.

If i plan on riding 2 or more days in a row, it sits on the buffet in the dining room. Much like where Old School RR's is sitting right now...

i put up some hooks near my bike in the garage. the helmets just hang out there and i usually just leave gloves on the seat and toss the jacket on a chair or on something in the garage.

my leathers live in a closet inside though.

I recently bought one of these to put my gear in for the street bike. I put in a empty corner of the den. The gear for the atv stays out in the garage with it.

gloves in the helmet, helmet on the kitchen counter, jacket on my closet floor with the rest of my clothes.

Got some kind of mite infestation in my helmet leaving it in the garage in Dallas, felt like poison ivy all over my forehead, cheeks and ears but it looked like really bad acne so nobody noticed.

Funny you bring this up..

We recently went on a trip to IKEA and found an awesome wardrobe (yeah that's canadian for free-standing-closet)! It holds [alomst] all of our helmets, boots, jackets, gloves, liners, back protectors, etc!

Helmets go up top, then jackets on the rack, then boots on the lower shelf. The only problem is that it's HUGE. it's like 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide. We found a damaged one that used to be their display model, 60% off.
