Not quite, although I know too many people here insist on that as being the very definition.

To clarify:
Squid is a slang term used to describe an irresponsible motorcyclist. The term is common among motorcyclists in North America.

The term is generally used to describe a motorcyclist who rides aggressively, erratically or beyond their capabilities. Squids are perceived as overconfident and often ride without appropriate safety equipment, such as a helmet, gloves, leather jacket, riding pants, or boots.

i went out and bought a bunch of brand new equipment, looking like a real noobie now. I think to myself tho, if i hit the ground doing 90 mph its better to have my jacket gloves and helmet on then nothing at all.

I don't wave to squids cause I think they are jackasses regardless of how they ride, so I guess I'm a snob in that case.
Gary doesn't wave because he can't wave... his hands are full pulliing in the clutch and bouncing the kawa-sucky off the rev-limiter!

And then he yells "Yeah boyyyyyyeeee!" through his protective bandana!

And to top it off, he wears PERIWINKLE leathers!

I didn't wave to anyone today cause I didn't see any of yall on the road Twas a nice day to ride in to work. The ride home @ 5p was easy breezy, traffic was light. The 610N to I-10E turn was fuuuuun with no traffic

Why do riders wave in the first place? I understand it as a prayer for the other rider. Not doing it would be only cause your too busy (traffic, shifting, turning, or other). Not waving doesnt make you a snob.

In fact, commuting back on saturday morning from work, I had bikers trying to wave from across the beltway median going ! I'm not trying to snobbish, but to me its like kind of moronic. I guess I did the same thing when I first rode. I just don't really wave across medians and pay much attention. I ride in full gear and all the squids cruising around just irke me more than anything else, just want to ignore them...

though when I see a fully geared sport bike rider it does my heart great joy, and I think ATGATT, rock on.

do I qualify as a snob?

im the same way...

I wave, not to be morbid but you may be the last person that the person waves to that day or vice versa.

I won't wave to trikes, or to someone on a sportbike with no helmet. I'll wave to a cruiser or scooter with no lid though. . . . . can't really explain that.

I like it when I pull up next to a squid and i'm in the one piece leathers. They always seem to fixate their eyes on my grinded down knee pucks....I just give them a quick nod and roll away.

Oh and yes you are a snob. lol

Plus one.
I can't demand someone wear their full gear ,it is their skin not mine.
Hate to see anyone go down or get entered into a rip thread.
Some riders just ask for it though.
Being from a small Texas Town, everyone waves ,so no biggie for me.
