Am I just a snob?

I ride daily and commute. Rack up a fair amount of mileage in rush hour traffic. Rare to actually see the squids out at that time, so its kind of shocking when I go riding on saturday and sunday for a bit, or even driving, and see the galore of bikes riding... and it seems 90% squidding it.

In fact, commuting back on saturday morning from work, I had bikers trying to wave from across the beltway median going ! I'm not trying to snobbish, but to me its like kind of moronic. I guess I did the same thing when I first rode. I just don't really wave across medians and pay much attention. I ride in full gear and all the squids cruising around just irke me more than anything else, just want to ignore them...

though when I see a fully geared sport bike rider it does my heart great joy, and I think ATGATT, rock on.

do I qualify as a snob?

LQTM.

Not giving the wave because of gear

Not doing it because they are separated by 7 lanes of traffic and a median

geez. I'm outta luck then. I'm a snob. I'll have to work on my biker humility and do the hello kitty wave across the highway at those bikers then to be a good sport.

Who gives a fukk. If they don't wave to me, I assume they are paying more attention to the road which they should be. I could give 2 less about thinking another rider being a snob or not depending if they wave. Thats just me though. I don't wave to squids cause I think they are jackasses regardless of how they ride, so I guess I'm a snob in that case.

yeah.. i carry a mini air compressor, tire plug kit and tools, etc each time. I believe in going the extra mile. However, at least 3 times I've stopped and pulled over on the side of the rode to offer help to someone pulled over I got pretty much ignored) I'm actually quite irritated at that. I pull over to check on you, make sure you're ok, and you just stand there look at me, then ignore me? I just say ok and ride off. Tired of it, each time cruiser folk. I would have fixed the guys flat if that was the issue. if you're pulled over and someone pulls up, at least go over and explain that everythings ok. Kinda hard to read body language with gear on sometimes.

@ badman, not quite understanding your point?

I will always wave if I see you and it's safe to do so. I don't care what you're wearing/thinking/whatever. I wave to people on sportbikes as well as people on cruisers, probably because I have owned both and met really great people that enjoy both. Mostly I have noticed it's cruiser type folk that are discriminatory with the love, but, whatever. Cuz I don't really give a flizzuck whether anyone waves back. I will NOT wave at people on "Trikes," wtf is that shyt. Just get back in your car, geez.

Just because someone is a dumbass (squidding it or whatever else) doesn't mean I take that as a cue to consciously be discourteous and snobbish.

That being said, I'm also not looking around across and over freeway medians and shyt like that to see if someone is waving at me. If I'm on the freeway I'm usually only paying attention to what's immediately around me and what's going on. People that wave at people on the other side of freeways are idiots.

Apart from that, my opinion is that its no concern to me whether you don't love your skin/head/bones/etc.. I'll still wave at ya dog...

No helmet is the norm on a squid. Some variations may include no jacket, wearing a wife beater, cargo shorts, flip flops, the magical bandana or backwards hat. Generally just no gear
