Cleaning Out Gas Tank?

Does anybody know how to clean out a gas tank with rust? It has been sitting out for a while. Are there and good products to help brake loss some of the rust?

take it off the bike, fill partially with rocks (sharp coarse ones), shake around a lot, rinse well, replace. :icon_bigg

They make a kit for it. It is like a 2 or 3 step process. Call Patrick, I believe I saw the kits at his shop.

DON'T use the water hose to rinse it out. I did that and even though I dried it out with alcohol the bike still ran like when on reserve. I had to get some water displacement solution to get the remaining water out even though I thought it was dry.

AJ Foyt Kawasaki on the North Freeway has done 2 different custom painted tanks for me without up either of the paint jobs. It wasn't cheap, the last one was abou $150, but you get what you paid for. If this is the first time that you try to "Kreme" your tank, you might be better off letting someone who knows what they're doing handle it for you.

if you do pick up the Kreem product, use it exactly as the directions state. If not, it will not provide satisfactory results.

Pat, I didn't know you did that kinda work or I would have driven a little further down the road and taken my biz to you. What would you get for a tank on an 'zook LT50?

Depends on how bad it is, typically $100.00 to $150.00.
