If you want DLP, you're looking at getting a projection unit. If you're looking for something to hang on your wall, your looking for an LCD or Plasma. I have LCD and Plasma - my main unit is Plasma.

I don't want to hand it on the wall. We want to have it sit on top a table unit.

No, LCD is a wall-hanger type and HD Projection is like what's used in conference rooms to project the image on the wall.

For analog viewing, I like my LCD. For HD and from an angle, Plasma is best, IMO.

plasma has limited life span, 10 years, heavy power consumption, good viewing angles, good blacks, minor burn ins.

lcd: energy saving, long life, limited viewing angles, poor blacks.

dlp: bulb replacement every 10 years? or was it 5? pricey bulbs. rainbow affect.

also what videos will you be viewing? analog signal on hdtv look like . i prefer watcing regular tv on non hd tv set. if you want the best hdtv out today. look for 1080p sets.
