This is how I mounted mine, I have yet to have a problem. I even had a cop pull me over and bend over to check the inspection and he didn't say anything. I think it just depends on the cop.

The law does say at the 'rear of the vehicle'.

I got a ticket for this once. I spoke to the DA and mentioned that every tow truck in town has their license plate mounted on the rear window and it's perfectly legal. Do they think that my plate will be more visible if it's moved 4" more to the rear?

My case was dismissed.

I just took a bunch of pics of the plate with me on the bike and from diffenent angles and distances.
Took the pics to court, had the prosecutor look at them, and she said she didnt see anything wrong with it.
Had to call back like a week later, but she said it was fine to ride.

thanks son for the answer....

The prosecutor talked to the officer and he said it was not illegal. After that he did state at night it could be though. I call BS. You can see it the same in the dark because it has the LED light on the plate.

Yes I know that is DOT approved, but as most will agree UGLY as sin. One of the biggest selling points of the bike I have are that it is sexy as and the big obstruction at back of it takes away from that.

The cop was a d!ck. I know all police officers aren't as such, but this one was. He was very condicending when he passed me the ticket, and it made my blood boil.

I did have to take time off work, and go and sit down there to get the ticket dismissed. It was a waste of ALL our time infact, me, the cop, the judge, the trees used to make the paper, ect....
Whats up tiatool....Im just going to add...Saving a 100+ dollars is not a waste of time..PERIOD

I have mine mounted at the very edge of my bike, and I got pulled over for it at night and given a verbal warning because I didn't have a white light illuminating it (was using the brake light instead which still shed tons of light on it). My friends have theirs mounted near the front of the rear tire above the tire hugger and haven't been hassled for it. It's all up the cop really.

I just follow common pull over procedures when pulled over and avoid getting any tickets that way, only gotten 1 so far in the 2 years I've been riding which got dismissed, BUT (huge BUT here), that time I had misplaced my insurance card and had expired inspection which I fixed the next day.. and I just totally went off topic lol.
