relocating Plate and inspection sticker

I cant stand the way my plates and inspection sticker stick out the back of my bike like it does looking like a fender. I was wondering if any of y'all had any legal suggestions on where i could relocate it? Thanks.

law says "back" of the motorcycle.........officer decides "back" while on the road, court decides "back" when you get there.........is your time worth the hassle.

The cop that pulled me over told be it had to be at the farthest point of the back of the motorcycle. I have also read the statute, and somewhere it says must be visible from 15 feet or somechit. Basically the answer is, "it is at the discretion of the officer."

Mine is well under the tail over the rear hugger. When he wrote the ticket he said, "behind the wheel" Which it is NOT and it is clearly visible, yes, with me sitting on the bike and the suspension sagged.

Basically, the cop was a d!ck and might I add an IDIOT because he COMPLETELY screwed up writing the ticket, thus I got it all thrown out by the judge. WHOOT!

If I had my bike here I would post a pic.

Wherever you put it, make sure it will be illuminated by a white light at night.

No. He didn't process the ticket correctly. Messed up on the violation(s) and the judge couldn't read the ticket.

The cop only needs to show on a trial by jury, which I will be doing for the speeding (75 in a 60)

I think I know where you are going with this. Let me cut you off at the pass.

My plate is under the tail. CLEARLY visible and illuminated. I have an 08 R1. If you are familiar with the design of the bike, it has undertail exhaust, so the only realistic way to mount the plate at the farthest point back of the bike is the OEM fender that came with the bike. Yes I know that is DOT approved, but as most will agree UGLY as sin. One of the biggest selling points of the bike I have are that it is sexy as and the big obstruction at back of it takes away from that.

The cop was a d!ck. I know all police officers aren't as such, but this one was. He was very condicending when he passed me the ticket, and it made my blood boil.

I did have to take time off work, and go and sit down there to get the ticket dismissed. It was a waste of ALL our time infact, me, the cop, the judge, the trees used to make the paper, ect....

I'm going to bill them next time for my hassle. at least I'm gonna try. to write me a ticket and not show up because you knew you'd lose... you never should have written a BS ticket just to waste my time. if i take 5 hours off work then I'm going after them for that 5 hours and what other time i have to take off to get that 5 hours pay.

Thanks for the heads up on this matter guys. I might see if I can move the inspection sticker over to my swing arm and just see if i can trim down the bulkiness of the plates. Thanks again for the help in this matter.

LEDs shine down from the fender opening.
relocating Plate and inspection sticker

Bent the inspection sticker around the swingarm and used the mounts for the chain guard to hold it.

the last mount I made for the plate spun it around and put it two inches in; passenger gave up some foot room but looked alot better and was a straight plate again. I'd show a picture but someone is unwillingly borrowing my bike at the moment.

Thanks racer already read that post and being that my father and 2 of my brothers are cops i understand and have a little bit more of a biest opinion on law enforcement. And being that i was a Service man i also tend to look at uniform figures a little different than other people.

I am simply raising this question b/c i don't like the way it looks on the back of the bike and figured i would ask an experienced community that has experience on this subject and see what they say. I understand the lay said that it has to be on the back of the bike but that is why i asked if there was another "legal" place that you could relocate it that would still be considered "back"

There are 2 types of Cops in this world @$$holes and the ones that do their job and keep people safe. Then there are many many more type of people that Cops deal with. Be the one that is respectful and not an @$$hole back and u just might be surprised at the type of cop you get.
