My earplugs give my exhaust note the perfect volume Not too loud, not too quiet.
And that's all the music I need. I try and concentrate on the stuff in front of me. To each his own.
On a really long trip, I'd consider making a playlist though. . .Only listening through one earbud though.

Mighty mighty bosstones, bullets and octane, SRV, led zeppelin, Iron Maiden, some metallica. usually one earbud on longer trips.

Led Zep and Metallica mostly on the longer rides. When I have a bike that sounds good it will be nothing. Even when I'm driving cars with good sounding engines and exhaust combos I turn off the music just to listen to it.

Hard-Pantera (gotta love the Cat Scratch Fever remake), Godsmack, Killswitch, Megadeth, Mudvayne, Cannibal Corpse, Drowning Pool, Metallica (only the old stuff), etc.

Regular- (80's-90's bands) Rush, Van Halen (and Van Hagar), Sammy Hagar, Ted Nugent, Yankees, Night Ranger, Bulletboys, Warrant, Skid Row, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dream Theater, etc.

Chilled- Bach, Paganini, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Brahms, Chopin, Vivaldi, Mozart, Mendelssohn. Can't STAND Beethoven.

The taste varies by the mood.
