f4i starting problem.. HELP!!

ok motoheads here we go.. i have a 2001 honda f4i. after riding for about 15-20 mins. , i stop and kill the engine. if i try to start back up right away, engine will not crank or start. i actually have to set there for about 10 mins for it actually to crank and start.. just installed new battery and still have this problem.. any help appreciated.. thanks

Sounds like the muffler bearings are worn out.
Replace them and lube your cam chain and you should be good to go.

It's the Fuel pressure regulator valve. You had vapor lock on your fuel. Google it, this is the second most common problem with the F4i, the first being the CCT

hey guys i have read a couple of threads about the fpr but noone is having the same issues im having.. do you guys really think its the fpr.. my f4i will not start after riding awhile but it never stalls..just wont crank or start for about ten mins..

happens everytime.. but only get fi light at first start up or if i turn engine off by the kill switch
oh and it will not crank at all.. but ten mins. later cranks and starts.. runs fine, no sputtering or anything

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you first turn on the bike but not start it. You have juice from the battery cuz you can start after a while so it's fuel related... If the fuel pump didn't prime may be your fuel relay got stuck when it's hot and prevent it from starting. Just a wild guess.

you know now that you mention it i didnt hear the fuel pump prime at the time of the concern.. but after the wait time it primed cranked and started

update.. ok last night i took bike out for 20 min ride. got back kill engine with kill switch.. 2 mins later tried to start, wouldn't crank or start.. notice fuel pump prime but at the same exact time the fuel pump prime the fi light came on and when the fuel pump prime was over the light went off.. fi light maybe 2-3 seconds tops.. HELPP!!!!

Maybe you could short out the diagnostic port and read the code off the ECM. I have the service manual so if you can count how many time the MIL light blinking, I can look it up.
