Nobody is forcing you to split lanes. If you're afraid of of what other people think then don't do it.

What Im wondering is what will happen when a cage and a bike collide when the bike is splitting lanes. If the biker is following all of the stipulations of legal lane splitting (assuming this bill is passed into law), and makes contact with a car, who is at fault?
Whether the car drifts over in the lane, or the bike drifts into the car, there will have to be some rule of thumb for cops to follow because there are not always witnesses.
