The Arai Quantum is fairly quiet.
Most helmets with good airflow aren't going to be real quiet.
However, I recommend wearing ear plugs anyway. I can actually hear better with the plugs in than without them because they cut down on the wind noise roar without impacting the sound of the engine or cars around me.

actually, I just picked up a couple of chatterboxes, and the wind noise is pretty bad from my mic. just wondering if I should just buy another "quieter" helmet or if a skirt for the bottom of the helmet would help...
