MOTARD Gearing CRF450R Question

What is, more or less, a good gearing for, say....MSRH? Where should I start? Just got a bike and I think it is +10 maybe?

Fkr wheelies through every gear.

Doesn't that bike need a decent braking system first?

Should be fine for a few sessions in level 1 if he uses the engine to help slow him down.
Definetly need to atleast upgrade to a bigger disk down the road though Cdill.

Congrats on the new bike man!

I've got a 46 tooth sprocket that you can have.
I'd up the front to a 15 tooth while your at it.
Should put you topping out somewhere around 95, but you may want something a bit taller for MSRH.

Reason being, there is a relocation bracket for a CRF450 on SMJ for $60.

That coupled with a new rotor, should let him play a little harder, until he bails in and buys a Motomaster or Berringer setup.

Yea...I have heard the deal with the brake system.

Hey Dbuck...I'm making this street legal. yes I will ride it at the track, on occassion, but the days of litre bikes on back roads are about over.

If I can only go 95mph, the liklihood of me going to jail...is slim.

Yeah, but doing wheelies from 0-95 might be frowned upon.

13 / 48 is stock for that bike.

I run 15 / 43 on mine which is good for street without giving up too much accelleration.

So I put the stock rear sprocket on. I think it's a 45, if I recall correctly. I think I need to go down further or +1 in the front. Still torquey as all get out and not real fast (top end). I know Mekrew's GPS had him at 109MPH on the back straight at MSR-H. Thats about where I would like to be as top end.

O well, I'll get it. I'll play around.

Did you ever find the right gearing for MSRH? What about any other tracks? I am going to get a 15 front, but not sure how small to go on the rear.
