CMRA at ECR, March 2009

The CMRA races at ECR this past weekend were something else -- Mother Nature reminded us who is really in control of things. The weekend was convoluted and confused due to the weather. Rain and very cold temps made the track very treacherous, and made anywhere off the track a gumbo mud fest. If you crashed and went into the mud, your dad was almost universally screwed due to the logistics of getting the bike back into the pits. It was not the best of times, and I know others will elaborate.

I am pretty tied up at the track but will occassionally break free to shoot a few pictures. Here are some from Saturday's endurance down on T1 / T2. I think this was sometime around the fourth or fifth hour. I also included a couple shots I took with my camera phone of post-race clean-up. Nice, huh?

That mud looks intense! Guess there was no running off then pushing back on the track and getting going again!

Good GAWD! That track is slick in the dry...I can imagine how bad it was in the wet and cold.

Great pics Linz! You do fantastic work as always

my evaluation of the track form the past weekend:

1. in the rain - it sux
2. temps ranging from high 30's to mid 50's - it sux
3. cold and raining - it sux
4. oil slicks on the track - it sux
5. knowing two very good riders crashed even tho they were putting around and the bikes were straight up, no kidding new tires with 2 inch chicken strips on both sides- it sux
6. never having been on the track until Sunday morning practice and knowing how slick and green the track was and seeing so many people crash and no matter what I could not crash - it sucked
7. scrubbing new tires on a track that still had water in 2 turns - yeh u guessed it, down
8. having your rear tire slide every time you attempted to roll smoothly on the throttle at any amount of lean angle - sux man
9. seeing bikes down in every corner (it appeared) for two laps sux again
10. whole weekend sucked. except I ripped off my yellow shirt coming down the stretch while Linz was waving the checkered flag (got pics?)

over all i hate the track think it's worse than oak hill and I willnever go back. I think it's a black eye againsty CMRA if they continue to race there with the track in the same conditions.

Special thanks and congrats to TONY and ALONZO! Both guys took a spill and came back to conquer a first place finish! Also camped out with those guys all weekend. Too bad we couldnt get any track time in!

Don't hate me for saying this...

I had a blast and I really enjoyed the track, during the rain I had more fun than I've had at any "rain" race for a long time.

I was cautious as it was our team's bike and my first time riding a GSXR 600 race bike, I still managed to ease in and have fun.

I for one would love to go back and ride the track, rain or shine . Next time however I'd like rains over the DOTs though .

You ready for TWS (Texas World Speedway) Dean?

I think most people knows ECR is slick and I haven't done a track day there except taking a Few laps just after they laid the original black top but let say it's just the track characteristic. My friend Mike went down on first lap in F40 and broke his wrist. It's one of the tracks which you hate it or love it, just like Oak Hill. Oh and finally I can put Dr Gonzo and his face together even I didn't introduce myself to you. Congrats, Gonzo and Tony.

Riding for "Young Gunz Racing"

Moe Agha (21)
Zeb Harris (20)
Brandon Warren (16)
Dean Dufrene (27)

Hence the name Young Gunz Racing .

I think I recall Dean telling me I put the fastest laptime down for our team in the rain, I know in the dry both Brandon and Zeb were faster then me by a couple seconds.

We finished 6th in our class and 14th overall out of the 21 or so that started.

I gotta admit to Tony/Alonzo and others - the Suzuki is waaay easier to ride then the R6/Ninja636! Hands down!
