Need some legal information from you guys

hey fam, I just bought a bike and there are no tags or any inspection stickers on it. I do have the title in hand and a bill of sale. My question is, if i get caught riding with no tags even though i just bought the bike. will i get a ticket for no tags etc...

I need to take this bike and get it inspected but i have no way to get it to a inspection station other then riding it there. I am putting insurance on the bike as of right now.

Just need to know if its ok since my trans am is giving me problems, i need to get this bike legal asap. time to put the ta in the shop.

Have a friend take you to go to the registration office, transfer the title into your name, pay your tax and pay for the registration. They should give you updated tags then and there. You could get ticketed for the no inspection if you were to get pulled over on the way there but if you have no other way of getting there, just take your chances I guess.

It's not street legal until it's registered. Don't chance it. No tag will get you pulled over for sure and they will tow it. The inspection is not a big deal.

I've always received a fix-a-ticket for vehicle inspection being out.

You have the bill of sale and title, not that you should carry it with you but that's your best ammo if you are pulled over. When you register the bike they will ask if you received tickets or fined for the vehicle being out of registration. Im not sure where it goes from there but I've been asked that on vehicles that went over.

what he means by fix it ticket is that most departments will waive the ticket if the tag is not more than 60 days expired and you get it resolved in 10 days and pay a small court cost (usually $10).

don't think that applies to your situation.

You have 30 days from date of purchase to register. The insurance needs to be done before you ever ride.

Insurance is the big one. I call and get a temporary rider (means I have coverage and 7 days to start a policy) before I even complete the actual purchase of the car or bike.

ALWAYS GET AND KEEP THEFT COVERAGE ALWAYS! (yes, I meant to yell that)

As long as you aren't being an a$$hat on the road I would assume most cops would understand you just bought it and let the inspection slide a few days. But get it done ASAP. Its only a few dollars.

You have 30 days on the other stuff but don't put it off in case there is some problem with the paperwork. ALWAYS transfer the title - even if its just going to be a track bike.

If it doesn't have a title always consider it stolen. If the person didn't bother to transfer the title from the last owner you should consider that fishy as well. No real excuse for that. Title proves ownership - nothing else does. So get that title transfer done. <flame suit on>

Your referring to fines for emissions violations for cars. Out of state title is another story.

Their not going to tow you for inspection out but they will for no registration. And no plates gives them an easy reason to pull you over.

They'll probably just write a ticket for being expired unless they want to be . But if they pull behind you and run your tag, they'll pull you over.
