I vote not legal. It is hard to see and a cop will pull you over for that reason.

Actually its not that hard to see once you are sitting in a car and your eyes are almost level with it. I say just slap on a light and call it a day.

can you start the bolt from the outside and use the nut to hold it in on the inside? you know where the two bolts hold the license plate? it will look alot more smoother and clean.
