IMO, and this varies greatly depending on who you ask, it is the passer's responsibility to pass safely. this includes passing with adequate distance, knowing the front rider's lines, passing quickly, and staying on their own line. stuffing someone in a race is one thing, at a regular trackday it takes a real to do it on purpose.

1.)When on the track who has the right of way?

The person in front of you until you have a safe point to get around them. (in novice) Adavances a whole other beast..

2.)Is there a right away?

Not necessarily. In level one everyone is "new" to the track. Or trackdays. If someone wants to get around you they will.

3.)If you go to pass in a turn and the rider you are passing as a different line then you and he gets over on top of you who's at fault?

That depends on the level, situation your in

4.)Is there really any fault?

Stupid hurts. Again it depends on the situation.

5.)Is there more than one line on the track?

Yes, everyone has their own line that suits them.

6.)Is street justice allowed on the track? j/j

No lol

I am confused. The forest just seems so simple, but yet the track looks like so much fun.

forest and track completely different.

these are just quick answers. And everyone will have a different view i'm sure. but that's what the classes are for at the beginning of the day to get everyone informed on each orgs. rules and regulations per level.

Regardless of group, it is the passing rider's responsibility to pass safely.

With no mirrors, no looking back and ear plugs in, the rider being passed does even know a pass is about to happen until the other rider is next to him.

That said, the rider being passed may need to adjust his line slightly or his speed to help insure a safe pass. I'm not an expert at passing but I am an expert in being passed.

1.)When on the track who has the right of way? It is the passers responsibility to pass cleanly. PERIOD!

2.)Is there a right away? No, see comment #1

3.)If you go to pass in a turn and the rider you are passing as a different line then you and he gets over on top of you who's at fault? The passer. Essentially if you go for a pass, you better make it clean and make it stick.

4.)Is there really any fault? Yes

5.)Is there more than one line on the track? Yes, definately

6.)Is street justice allowed on the track? lol

The way I try to apprach a pass, is like this.....If I can tell I'm way faster than the person in front of me, if I can reel someone in by a couple of corners. That means I'm picking up considerable time in each corner. I usually try to get by quickly and as clean as possible. That way I am not all over them for multiple corners and they don't feel much need to try and push more. If I come up on a rider slowly and may be faster in some spots, but not really faster overall, I try to watch them for a while and find a weakness or find somewhere I'm faster. That way instead of forcing something, the pass happens quicker & cleaner....usually. When I say quicker, I'm not talking about the time I spend behind them to the time I pass them. I'm speaking in regards to the time I initiate the pass attempt to the time I am in front of them. It is a exercise in patience, but it pays off. I'm not the authority on this subject, but I feel I have passed & been passed plenty of times.

and if at any point in time your uncomfortable pull off to pit lane and give the other riders space and pull out and ride your own pace. it's not a race!
