02 r6 blinking fuel light

IM assuming its throwing a code does anyone know off hand what 8 blinks is.
Im thinking either stator or rectifier...

it means...






you need gas. It only does it 8 times cause its sick of you not paying attention to it. Now take it to eat you unthoughtful .

Im pretty sure its carburated. Its not my bike though just helping a buddy out. i called texas yamaha but the hats never called back.
Cali if you think he would know that would be great.

08 Yamaha R6S









I have on 08 r6s thats is doing the same thing. Owners manual says 8 flashes and off for 3 sec is a defective fuel level detection sensor. Says to take it to a Yamaha dealer to check it. I tried disconnecting the battery to clear it and it didn't work.
