New to MH

Hey every body.

I jumped into the RideSmart forums after the track day at MSR-H on the 7th so I figured I'd come give a courtesy intro...

My name is Damien, I live just north of Dallas in Mckinney. I'm 29 and I've been riding sportbikes for 21 years now. Played in the dirt for a couple years before I got my YSR50 for my 8th b-day.

I grew up at what some may argue is one of the best riding roads in the country. Deals Gap. Some of you may know it as Highway 129, The Tail of the Dragon... etc. My dad is actually the one that first started marketing the area to motorcycles and is credited with getting the ball rolling towards it becoming the motorcycle haven that it is today.

I've had quite a few bikes in my day. Only one of them was gotten ride of due to damage and that was a '93 Kawi ZX7RR racebike that I totaled at Road Atlanta in '95.

I've had the following bikes in chronological order (to the best i remember)

'87 Yamaha YSR50 age 8
'92 Honda CBR600F2 age 12
'93 Kawi ZX7RR (track only) age 14
94 kawi ZX7R age 15
'98 Yamaha R1 age 19
'01 Kawi ZX7R age 22
'99 Kawi ZX7R age 26
'07 Kawi ZX10R age 28

I'm waiting til I have a sport touring bike for riding 2up with the misses before turning the 10R into a track only toy. That may never happen though since I'm really diggin the looks of the new R1.... except that red seat.

Here's a pic of me when i was 12 on the old YSR... and the CBR on the trailer is mine.

Did when I was younger on a Yamaha RZ350...wasn't a big fan of the 2smoke. got the 7RR with the intention of getting LOTS of track time on a big bike before tryng my hand at racing one... put her into the pit wall at Rd Atl after blowing the last corner. ooops.

I'd love to race again. don't see it being in the budget any time soon though

I'm a fan of riding!

I've loved my ZX7's over the years. And I still think that the 7R is just about the most stable handling bike i've ever ridden.

the 10R is a good lookin bike (not the new one... sorry don't like the front end.) and I was actually in my local Kawi dealer buying parts for my last 7R when I saw the deal they had on the '07 10Rs that were left. I did the paperwork, went to get my trailer, and that was it... Its been a good bike overall...but I've got my eyes on the new R1... The list of bikes I'd like to have if I had unlimited funds is long and varied...
