i have seen this happen once. someone left the key in the tail section. i guess he was putting something in that rear compartment. so i put it on the lower triple clamp and left a note saying "check the lower trees"

Take the key out and open the rear cowl/rear seat. Find his insurance card with his address on it. Load the bike up then head to the house with his keys....

I'd take them to the counter. I once found a 636 w/ keys at the marquee on silber. I found the guy and gave him the keys only to find out it wasn't his bike. Turns out he borrowed it from his friend so he could get to work.

Its called "entrapment"

dont touch it

lol

I tell management, if they choose to take the keys out and hold them that's fine. Otherwise if I see them inside I tell them. If its a buddy I just take them and let them sweat it out for a while later.

I do it all the time. You cant freakin give a busa away.

In this case, if the LEOs left the bike and keys there, it'd be a set-up vehicle. If you took the keys, the prosecution would have to prove you intended to steal the vehicle, which might be very easy if you took a ride, and might be very hard if you delivered the keys to management.

Entrapment is a defense to prosecution, not the prosecution's case. It is sometimes used by criminal defenses in a court of law following an event where LEOs or another government agent deceives an innocent person into committing a crime he or she had no prior intention of committing. Thus entrapment is illegal.

You're right about the Busa part, though.
