05 zx10 or 03 cbr 954 .... need a 2nd opinion

ok here is my ordeal. by this weekend I have two bikes im trying to decide on which one would be better for me. Im more of a drag race/street rider type of rider. here are my two choices.

2005 zx10r
yoshi exhaust
k&n filter
red leds
solo tail
under tail
15, miles
price is set at 4500

2003 cbr 954 RR
new back tire
frame sliders
polished wheels
13xxx miles
price is 4800 or best offer

Now i probably can talk the guy down with the cbr to 4500. my question to you guys are. if you had to pick, which one would you pick as a street bike. I will be using this bike for commuting to work/school. And good times on the weekend. No track use as of now. If anything possibly drag racing at the 1/2 mile track.

CBR954 arrrr arrrr

two totally different bikes. I have owned both.
The 10 will SPANK the 954 in a straight line, but it needs a dampener.
In the twisties, the 10 may be able to hang with an expert rider. For the average rider, the 954 is MUCH better. It just drops in more smoothly.

I have ridden Kaw since I was 12, and always said I bleed green, so it pains me to say this, but.......I think the 954 is a better all around bike.

It's ergos are more comfortable, it vibrates a lot less, the brakes are more linear, the torque curve is much better suited to daily riding, and the aforementioned handling.

I pull out to pass and roll on at 3000 on the cbr, and it pulls strong and clean. That wouldnt happen on the 10. It was choppy and surged under 5000 of you rolled into it. Downshift 2 gears and fckn hold on!

I have ridden a 954 and owned a 05 zx10 and if you want to drag race the zx10 is a beast you won't regret getting the zx10 your 1st investment should be a steering dampner. I have a friend he has a 954 and he gets whooped on by a 01 gsxr 750 everytime. GET THE ZX10!!!

Me even being a Honda man, if you wanna drag it then the 10 is where you should be.

However like the above mention posted the 954 is a way better "all around" bike. So if you are going to drag often get the 10 if you commute way more and drag sometimes, i'd lean towards the 954

Well if it is any testiment I bought my 954 new in 02 and still have it. It is an excellent street bike because of the low end torque and better riding position. Wheelies are what this bike was made for and it will the front wheel straight up at 11mph. This bike needs a damper or it will feel squirrely and tankslap easily. Any year Gix1000 will flat stomp it in mid-top power though. It is an absolute fun streetbike and does pretty good around the tracks too if you ride well. Also, they make a fine looking track bike.

i have riden a 954...and owned 3 zx10s.

they dont compare...as for handling, i dunno why poeple say the 10 doesnt handle, you just have to work it a bit more, put a damper and good tires on it, 1 down in the front and it handles in and out of turns like a mad man.

i love hondas, i have 3 of them, but they didn't really pick up the pace till 06 with the 1000.

if you were asking 06 1000rr or 05zx10r, i would pick 1000rr all day and night long.

goodluck

zx10r only weighs 20 lbs more than a zx6r, don't see why it would handle so bad. i plan on getting an 04-05 for street and track (msrh & TWS (Texas World Speedway)) use soon. i hope my 130 lbs self can handle it

i looked at that 10r you posted last night

Just curious, why do you like the CBR over the ZX? I will be in the market for one of these bikes in a few months.
