Needed: legal bike for Class M

In advance of my summer MC trips to Central Mexico I have to get my Class M. I've put it off for 22 years of weekly, if not daily, street riding, but I'm tired of looking over my shoulder and am a little nervous about "over the border" issues if I don't have a valid TX MC license.

Does anyone have a legal "anything" I can use to take the test? It needs everything up to date...license plate, inspection, registration, insurance....and look good enough that the DMV will let me test on it. I'll take anything, even a twist and go scooter, as long as the DPS will smile and nod! My friend and long time riding buddy will accompany me. He is class M certified and has 50k miles experience on his 919, but he just sold it so I'm out of luck while we both shop for KLR650's.

I would pick it up and drop it off on a low trailer, with a canyon dancer and straps, so no miles except the actual 2-3 mile road test. I'm in Sugarland so the SW side is best for me.

If anyone wants to just help a fool out and meet me at the DMV, I'll take you to lunch at the location of your choice, (limit one lap dance fellas).

I have 100k+ miles street and dirt experience, so u can relax. I hope nothing would happen to your bike. If it does, I'm good for it, ask around.

Thanks!

Peter

I'll just come to your house and just bring that sweet 250 back at the end of the weekend. Cool?

Actually, my buddy lives on 43rd near 610 and 43rd so it would work out for me to get him, get the bike, and hit a dmv in your area. Aren't you guys 45 N at 8 roughly?

Out of pure curiosity, are you driving around an illegal bike?

They don't list the miles, but not a bad bike for the price ($2795, surely negotiable). I think I am going to get a 2009 new since they are like $4800 online, my friend may go the used route since he is still in Med school. Thanks for the link.

I am riding a XR600 with no inspection and borrowed tags (off my SV, which is in pieces in the garage) to and from the trail, 4 houses down from my house. I do have insurance on it I have put maybe 20 miles on the road in my neighborhood in 2 months working on it and my other dirt bikes. Withdrawel is serious right now! My only other street legal bike now is my Zuma 70 moped, on semi-permanent loan to my little brother in San Antonio.

IN order to take the DPS driving test, don't you have to have insurance on the bike you test on that is in your name?? I know when I took it they checked my insurance...so borrowing someone elses bike would not work unless you are named on the insurance...

I'm not sure about TX, but in MN I used my mom's best friend's car for mine. It may not be relative to this in any way because it's two diff states, but just sayin'. Why would they hinder one from being "legal"?
