Fun way to Austin.

I'm going to Austin in a few days on my bike and was wondering if there is a tried "fun" way to Austin. Backroads are nice, twisties are better.

Anyone have a good route alternative to 71 or 290?

Take the Fayetteville route, then continue on backroads to Bastrop and 71, then jump back off on 969 into Austin

I have to go with something like this too!

I took a similar route a year or so ago and enjoyed the ride out there a lot. Then on the way home I took a route out of Round Rock into Taylor.

I think this was what I took...

Going:
529, etc. out to Fayettville
159 out of Fayetville to La Grange
77 out of La Grange to 153 through Winchester and on to RR22 just outside of Smithville
Then 71 through Bastrop and onto Webberville Rd through Utley and into Austin

Coming Back:
79 out of Round Rock to Taylor
Then FM 112 out of Taylor to Lexington and Hwy 77
Then 696 out of Lexington to 21 and cut over on 21 to FM 60 into Somerville (take it easy on FM60!!!)
Then 36 out of Somerville to 390
390 to 105 and stay on 105 back to Plantersville and come in the back way onto 249
